Vision X Space recap: Q&A with Vicky and Florian
In our latest X Space, Vicky, our new Ecosystem Lead for Vision, and Florian, who is leaving Bitpanda, answered your questions together. For this recap, we grouped the community questions around timelines, roles and responsibilities, VSN utility and buybacks, builders and the launchpad and Bitpanda Enterprise.
Timelines and communication
Question
When will Vision Chain go live, and what has the team learned from previously communicated and missed dates?
Answer
Vision Chain is still planned to go live this year. We will not communicate an exact date.
Previously communicated timelines proved overly ambitious, and our initial planning did not account for the complexities that emerged. As part of a regulated company, decisions involve more teams and departments. This does not make things worse, but it does take time.
Going forward, we want to communicate more regularly and share updates that are actually useful, rather than dates given because there is demand for them. We will bring the community into the process as things become ready to talk about.
It is also important to note that not every part of Vision moves at the same speed. Wallet, Vision Chain, VSN and the wider ecosystem each follow their own timeline, and priorities evolve as the market changes.
Roles and responsibilities
Question
What will Vicky be responsible for?
Answer
Vicky's role is focused on community, communication and the public-facing side of the ecosystem, while also contributing to the broader commercial strategy.
This covers everyone who interacts with Vision Chain or VSN: the existing Vision community, Wallet users, VSN holders, builders, partners and, increasingly, institutional players. Beyond announcements, it means talking to builders and partners, listening to the community and bringing that feedback back into the organisation.
Vicky is not taking over product, engineering or the commercial and institutional strategy. Those areas have their own owners, and the team continues to grow.
Question
Who is responsible for Vision after Florian leaves?
Answer
Vision was never a one-person project. Teams across product, engineering, marketing, business development, legal and regulatory have worked on it for a long time. With Florian leaving, his responsibilities are being distributed across several people with the relevant expertise.
The priority of Vision and Vision Chain within Bitpanda does not change. The role was not removed. Instead, the team is expanding and the function continues to receive investment.
VSN utility, buybacks and transparency
Question
What does VSN do, and how does it connect to the economics of Vision Chain?
Answer
As stated in the Whitepaper, VSN has three functions: staking, governance and gas on Vision Chain.
For gas, eligible users of the Vision Wallet and Bitpanda Broker can pay transaction fees in VSN through the Paymaster. Users do not need to hold ETH or understand how Layer 2 gas works before using a product.
Question
How do the buybacks work, and what happens with bought-back VSN?
Answer
Once Vision Chain is live and generates eligible sequencer revenue, the automated buyback mechanism defined in the tokenomics framework applies. The current baseline is 10% of the net sequencer revenue attributable to the Foundation. The €2,000,000 VSN buyback is separate from this mechanism.Bought-back VSN is not automatically burned. It goes into the Foundation treasury. Buybacks and burns are not the same thing.
Question
How can the community verify these flows?
Answer
The relevant mechanisms are onchain. The buyback contracts will be onchain, and the OP Stack uses onchain sequencer fee vaults, so anyone can independently check the revenue and buyback flows.
More broadly, activity on Vision Chain, in the Wallet and across Vision and Bitpanda products built on the chain is designed to connect back to VSN. We will also offer grants to builders who create applications on Vision Chain that provide utility for VSN stakers and holders.
Builders, the Wallet launchpad and Bitpanda
Question
Is Vision Chain only for institutions, or is there room for smaller builders?
Answer
Vision Chain is being built compliance-first and with regulated institutions in mind, so they are naturally an important focus. But that is not a no to smaller builders. A healthy chain needs both meaningful activity and real use cases built on top of it.
If you are building and interested in Vision Chain, tell us what would make you choose it. That feedback is more useful to us than a general call for builders.
Question
How could the Wallet launchpad work, and is there a path into Bitpanda for projects?
Answer
We are looking at a model where selected assets built on Vision Chain could launch through a launchpad within the Vision Wallet. This would give those projects access to distribution within the ecosystem.
Projects that perform well and meet the relevant requirements could then have a potential path into the broader Bitpanda ecosystem, for example through Bitpanda Spotlight.
None of these steps are guaranteed. Building on Vision Chain does not guarantee launchpad access, and launchpad participation does not guarantee Spotlight. Each step requires the relevant qualitative, legal, regulatory and risk criteria to be met.
The Vision Wallet is self-custodial, which means it can technically support a much broader range of assets. That does not mean every token will be enabled or promoted to users. Being technically accessible and being actively supported are two different things.
For projects that qualify, we are also looking at mechanisms where the project provides a token allocation to VSN stakers. Projects gain distribution and exposure, and VSN stakers participate in the activity created around them.
Bitpanda Enterprise and Vision Chain
Question
How does Bitpanda Enterprise connect to Vision Chain?
Answer
The collaboration is intentional by design. Tokenisation is exactly the kind of use case Vision Chain is being built for, and the Bitpanda Enterprise tokenisation product will use Vision Chain. The chain is designed with Enterprise partners and institutional use cases in mind.
At the same time, Bitpanda Enterprise covers more than tokenisation. For other Enterprise products, it depends on the specific use case and whether Vision Chain is the right infrastructure fit. Not every product will run on Vision Chain from day one.
Closing thoughts
The launch of Vision Chain will not come as one single announcement. The roadmap, communication and initiatives around it are being planned now, and we will share more of that process step by step.
We also want to thank Florian for everything he has built with the team. As he said himself, he is not disappearing from Vision just because he is leaving Bitpanda.
We know there has been frustration, and not everything in the past went as it should have. Not every answer can come with an exact date. But the focus is clear: show what we are doing rather than promise what we will do, be open when something is not ready, and give the community more visibility into the people and the process behind Vision.
