Buybacks, Vision Chain, Wallet updates and what comes next - August Q&A

For this Q&A, we grouped the latest community questions around buybacks, Vision Chain, Wallet updates, VSN utility, governance, and infrastructure.

Buybacks, governance and the VSN economy

Question

The new Whitepaper describes automated buybacks on Vision Chain and a transfer to the Foundation treasury. Will there be a regular governance vote on how those VSN are used, for example burns, staking pools or developer grants?

Answer

As mentioned in the Buyback blog, the VISION web3 Foundation will consult the community through governance on how a share of bought-back VSN should be used. However, it is important to stress that the Foundation will retain discretion on the use of its treasury funds, in line with its legal and financial obligations.

Burns, additional staking rewards, developer grants, community activations and broader ecosystem initiatives are all possible examples.

Question

The Whitepaper says that 10% of the net sequencer revenue attributable to the Foundation from operating Vision Chain is routed into onchain purchases of VSN. What happens with the other 90%? Is there revenue not attributable to the Foundation?

Answer

The 10% buyback allocation refers to a defined share of net sequencer revenue attributable to the Foundation.

The remaining revenue supports ongoing operations and ecosystem development. That includes areas like team costs, infrastructure, marketing, exchange listing fees, additional buybacks and other measures needed to scale the Vision ecosystem.

There is also revenue that is not attributable to the Foundation. For example, Optimism has a direct revenue share that is not part of the Foundation’s net sequencer revenue.

Question

With Vision Chain fee buybacks now live, what is the long-term mechanism for sustaining buyback pressure as onchain volume scales? And how does Wallet user growth feed into that flywheel?

Answer

Vision Chain fee buybacks are not live yet because Vision Chain itself is not live yet.

Once the chain is live, every eligible transaction will contribute to the mechanism. More usage means more sequencer revenue, and more sequencer revenue means more VSN buyback activity.

That includes activity from Vision products, Bitpanda products built on the chain, and external partner products.

Wallet growth also matters. Wallet revenue contributes to Foundation activity, whether through product development, marketing, ecosystem growth or additional buybacks. Once products built on Vision Chain are integrated into the Wallet, their chain fees will also contribute to the automated sequencer buyback mechanism.

Question

Will there be a public dashboard or onchain address so we can track sequencer revenue and buybacks ourselves once Vision Chain is live?

Answer

Yes, we are considering building a dashboard and all relevant buyback contracts will be onchain. Anyone will be able to verify the amounts bought back.

The OP Stack also uses onchain sequencer fee vaults, which can be checked publicly to follow revenue flows.

The first VSN buyback

Question

Is the first buyback funded only by flywheel revenue, or is it subsidised with existing funds?

Answer

The VISION web3 Foundation will conduct a €2,000,000 VSN buyback between September 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026.

The buyback is funded through a combination of product revenue, including Wallet revenues and token liquidity provision revenue, dealflow revenue such as partnership and integration grants from third parties, investment revenue from the Foundation’s treasury strategy, and treasury funds.

This is not the same as the future automated Vision Chain sequencer buyback mechanism. That starts once Vision Chain is live and eligible chain revenue is generated.

Question

Will you be buying back the same amount every day from September 1, or do you already have an AI agent doing that for you?

Answer

The buyback has to follow strict rules.

Purchases will be executed on a rule-based, time-weighted basis and distributed evenly across the programme period.

The maximum number of VSN acquired under this programme is 100,000,000 VSN. Purchases will not exceed €0.10 per VSN and will not exceed 25% of the average daily trading volume of VSN on the open market.

Relevant details will be published within the first weeks of 2027.

Wallet, missions and staking

Question

Are updates to Swap Missions in the Vision Wallet planned? Right now, Swap Missions feel less valuable than Prediction Missions. Vision-exclusive Missions should also be adjusted.

Answer

Yes, mission updates are being worked on.

Some missions currently feel more rewarding or relevant than others, especially since Predictions added a new activity layer to the Wallet.

The goal is to rebalance and introduce missions across swaps, predictions, staking, referrals, Earn and future product use cases. Engage should become clearer, better balanced and more closely tied to actual product usage.

Question

Are you thinking about giving VSN holders who lock their VSN for longer a bigger share of staking rewards, for example “lock your VSN for six months and get 10% additional rewards”?

Answer

We have discussed options like this and will continue to look at them.

Longer lockups can make sense because they support stronger holder alignment and more predictable staking behaviour.

There are no concrete plans to announce right now. If we move in that direction, it needs to be designed carefully and kept understandable for users.

Vision Chain infrastructure and developer tooling

Question

For developers tokenising RWAs on Vision Chain, which token standards and compliance tools will be supported? Will there be APIs or SDKs for third-party projects?

Answer

Vision Chain is intended to support widely used token standards, including ERC-3643 and other relevant standards for tokenised assets.

We are also looking into onchain KYC attestations to enable whitelisting of assets and pools. This is important for regulated assets where access cannot always be fully open.

We cannot commit to specific APIs, SDKs or implementation details yet. Those will be shared once documentation and infrastructure are ready.

Question

Will a public explorer be available for public mainnet, and what data will be visible there, especially transactions, fees and sequencer activity?

Answer

Yes. A public explorer will be available for Vision Chain mainnet, with the usual functionality users know from other chains: transactions, blocks, contracts, fees and general chain activity.

Sequencer, MEV and security

Question

Who operates the sequencer, and what safeguards are in place to ensure it cannot exploit MEV mechanics or front-run users? Is there a roadmap to decentralise the sequencer?

Answer

Vision Chain will launch with a centralised sequencer and a private mempool, operated by Optimism on behalf of the VISION web3 Foundation

We plan to use Flashbots Rollup-Boost for block building and will commit to fair transaction ordering that can be independently verified.

Ethereum security provides settlement and finality guarantees, but transaction ordering on an L2 is a separate topic. The setup is designed to reduce toxic MEV and improve execution fairness.

At this stage, we are not committing to sequencer decentralisation. The launch priority is a stable, reliable and verifiable setup for the use cases we are building.

Bitpanda integrations and the role of VSN

Question

The new Whitepaper talks about future integrations of VSN into Bitpanda Broker. Can you provide specific examples?

Answer

As stated in the Whitepaper, examples could include additional rewards from Earn pools, card-related benefits, and benefits in products or third-party applications built on Vision Chain.

We cannot announce specific product launches before they are ready. But where it makes sense, VSN should become more connected to the broader Bitpanda experience.

Question

Is it conceivable to integrate Bitpanda Business into Vision Chain, and how could VSN benefit from this?

Answer

Future Bitpanda products will be built on Vision Chain where it makes sense.

This can include Bitpanda Business or enterprise-related products that benefit from onchain infrastructure, tokenised assets or blockchain-based settlement.

When such products use Vision Chain, their transactions generate chain activity. That activity creates sequencer revenue, and a share of that revenue flows into VSN through the automated buyback mechanism.

Question

Regarding the VSN gas model: does the Paymaster need to acquire VSN on the market if users pay their fees with VSN, or can an existing VSN balance be used?

Answer

The Paymaster will accept VSN and then pay the Layer 1 fee in ETH.

That means no additional VSN acquisition is needed for this specific process.

This is about making the user experience smoother, not about creating a separate buyback mechanic through gas payments.

Closing thoughts

The first buyback has been announced, and the updated Whitepaper has been published. It now formally includes the automated sequencer buybacks and other key economic commitments we have discussed over the past months.

At the same time, Wallet and Vision Chain development continue to move forward.

Not everything is live yet, and not every answer can come with an exact date. But the focus is clear: more usage, more transparency, more utility, and a stronger economic link between Vision products and VSN.
